Easy Bake Adventures

One of the most popular (and highly used) Christmas presents is my daughter's Easy Bake Oven. My sisters had one when I was a kid and my wife also had one as a child. Fond memories gave us some expectations. My daughter had plenty of expectations too. The box came with plenty of stuff, making it a present full of presents.

Making the first batch of something yummy

The only drawback was the baking mix. They including only one bag. They sell a bunch of other bags on line and in stores at inflated prices. It's the Xerox model of making money--not so much on the equipment but on the toner cartridges. Or in this case, on the baking mixes. So we decided to come up with our own recipes.

Fudge Brownies

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons of No Pudge Fudge Brownie Mix (available on line and in stores)
  • 1/2 tablespoon of plain yogurt (we used full fat)
Mix ingredients and resist eating all the raw dough.

Mixing yogurt and brownie mix

Grease the Easy Bake cookie sheet with butter or cooking spray.

Spread mix on cooking pan and bake for ten minutes in the oven (remember to pre-heat the oven).

Filling the pan

Yummy finished product

For an alternative, make chocolate crinkle cookies!

 Ingredients
  • 1/2 tablespoon of No Pudge Fudge Brownie Mix
  • 1/2 tablespoon of plain yogurt (we used full fat)
Mix ingredients, freeze for 5-10 minutes.

In a small bowl, place 1 tablespoon of powdered sugar.

Confectioner's sugar

Cut parchment paper to fit the Easy Bake cookie sheet.

Scoop 1 teaspoon of dough, roll into a ball and coat with powdered sugar.  Place on paper. Continue until all dough is used.

That's more than a eighth of a teaspoon!

Dividing the dough

Adding powder

After all cookies are placed, gently flatten each cookie with your fingertip. Bake for about ten minutes.

Or, you can try our baker's invention - Brownie Balls

Prepare brownies as above, but underbake slightly.  Afterward, crumble the brownies and remold into balls by squeezing together.  Roll in sprinkles.

We made a lot of brownie mix
